Hamish’s Bike Ride For Aschiana
Hamish Lyon, aged 8 cycled 26.5 Km in 3 hours in not very pleasant weather conditions in Scotland to raise money for the school children of Aschiana. His Mum, Lucy, cycled alongside him all the way. He encouraged everyone, from his own friends and family to his school mates and their families to donate to Friends of Aschiana UK via our Donate page.
Please do the same and leave Hamish a message, together with whatever you can afford. We leave it to Hamish to describe the ride in his own words:
“We saw orange bracken and highland cows on our bike ride, and a big dam. We got wet, very wet. Then we got quite hot. Then we got quite tired legs. But we chatted all the way and we practised our Arabic counting and spoke about lots of things including Afghanistan where Mummy and Daddy lived. I’d love to go there one day and meet some of the children. It would be great if more children in the UK could do this for Afghanistan so it’s a happier country.”
Hamish’s fund is still open. Please give what you can to boost his total even higher to show this British schoolboy that all his efforts on a cold and rainy day, to help poor children on the other side of the world receive an education, were more than worthwhile
On behalf of the children of Aschiana and all the street working children in Afghanistan, who need and deserve to go to school:
Thank you Hamish!
